He specialises in Confidence Coaching and helps clients progressively build their self-esteem for maximum benefit in all areas of their lives and we are delighted that Derek is based exclusively at Wessex Therapy Clinic.
A Personal Message from Derek Palmer…
How I Work
The majority of my clients are referred to me by existing clients, or by fellow professionals so they usually have some frame of reference about me before meeting me for the first time.
Free Initial Consultation
Notwithstanding this, I always offer an initial 45 minute consultation without charge for all prospective new clients. I believe this is vital. You need to feel completely comfortable working with me and I need the opportunity to assess your requirements so as to be able to take you on as a client in total confidence of being able to help you… quickly, effectively and for good!
3 Stage Process
I have developed a structured (though flexible) approach to therapy which is enjoying a significant success rate.
Following our initial complimentary consultation, we then meet again for 3 sessions of 1½ hours; 1 hour; and ¾ hour respectively… usually (though not always) at weekly intervals.
Within this structure, each and every client is given their own uniquely individual, personally-tailored programme of therapy built around Hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and Meridian Energy Therapies such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
In addition, I always require my clients to fulfil homework assignments following each session. These are always designed to be interesting, insightful… and FUN!
For an initial conversation call me today on 07798 550600.
I very much look forward to hearing from you!
With my very best wishes,
Derek

What is Hypnosis?
Healing by “trance state” has been acknowledged for centuries and has been observed, in one form or another, in virtually every culture throughout the world. However, the term “hypnosis” (from the Greek “hypnos”, meaning “sleep”) was only coined around 1840 and remains a somewhat less than accurate description of the experience as, in most respects, the hypnotic state is entirely dissimilar to sleep.
According to the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, at our current level of knowledge, the phenomenon cannot be conclusively defined but perhaps a reasonable interim definition might be that: “Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by (although not exclusively) mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious is able to communicate with our conscious mind”.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Psychological therapy and counselling (sometimes referred to as the “talking cure”) is the treatment of emotional and psychological disorders, unwanted habits and undesirable feelings, using psychological techniques alone. The aim of all such therapy is to assist people in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling or behaving.
There are many forms of psychological therapy but Hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind.
Unlike many other psychological therapies, Hypnotherapy is generally considered to be a fairly short-term approach in which beneficial change, if it is to occur, should become apparent within a relatively few sessions.
What is NLP?
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a powerful discipline that enables people to unblock the structures of human communication and human excellence. By doing so people can think, communicate and manage themselves, and others, more effectively.
NLP explores the relationships between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes).
